Hitting Velocity Improvement Study

We just completed an eight week Velocity Improvement Study for high school athletes, the details are listed below.  We are currently in week two of a similar study for middle school athletes.  If you are interested in being invited to future studies please contact us.

Maximum Velocity Hitting Study

The Maximum Velocity Hitting Study was run in the winter of 2017 and was designed to increase each hitter’s exit velocity both off the tee and in front toss/batting practice.  We created the program to statistically analyze the value of drills over time and their impact on the total swing ability of each player.  Exit velocities have become a large part of the recruiting process as well as the scouting of collegiate and professional players.

The players tested in our program ranged in age from sophomores to seniors in high school and the group was limited to eight participants.  The 60 minute session included a weekly warm up with specific hip mobility drills.  Each session of the eight week program continued with varied amounts the following:

  • Video Analysis of big league models
  • Video Analysis of each athlete in the group
  • In cage hitting drills
  • Dry work drills outside of the cage

Velocities were recorded with both a Stalker Radar and a Pocket Radar.
